About MATS
With 1240 townships in Michigan, double the number of cities, villages and counties combined, townships provide strong roots for Michigan’s citizens. The Michigan Association of Township Supervisors (MATS) was created almost a decade ago by a small group of Township Supervisors seeking a way to better network with each other and to see that their educational needs were met. They were seeking ways to strengthen the quality of municipal government and administration in Michigan’s rural communities. While the association has grown in numbers and importance, that mission holds strong.

MATS is the professional service, education and networking association specifically for Township Supervisors. Every profession needs specialized resources, in-depth education, networking with peers and experienced mentors to help its members improve their skills and gain the knowledge they need to succeed. MATS is that organization for you.

With its first executive director providing professional administrative support to the volunteer board, MATS is moving forward in its charge to better meet the needs of professional Township Supervisors. We invite you to join us.

MATS Districts (Map)

The MATS board includes elected representatives from eight districts of the state. Each District Director works within their area to promote membership, encourage Supervisors to attend the Spring and Fall education conferences, bring ideas from the membership to the full board for discussion, and more. All officers may run for reelection if they chose to run again.

All board positions for two years, elected in odd years. The next election will be held in April 2011. Vacancies occurring mid-term are filled by presidential appontment. If you are  interested in serving on the MATS board, please contact Executive Director Judi Lintott at 734-572-8776 for more information about responsibilities and qualifications.
